Navigation Courses

Now you can take your theory course on-line and come for your practical course equipped with the background knowledge. RYA recommends theory background knowledge for joining a practical course.

If you don't have the time to join us in our classroom there is no problem at all! Enrol in a Navathome on-line course and study whenever and wherever you wish. Our instructors will support you and you can choose to take the assessment on-line or in the classroom. The structure of the courses we offer is easy to follow and they cover everything you need to be a safer sailor and a more confident skipper.

GMDSS Short Range Certificate

Learn how to use properly the VHF and take advantage of the capabilities that DSC offers. Learn about the GMDSS and what happens when you press the "red button".

This certificate is required if going for a Yachtmaster certificate of competence

 Anyone wishing to operate a marine radiotelephone, those going for  Yachtmaster

  • Allocation of channels

  • Global Maritime Distress and Safety System

  • Digital Selective calling

  • EPIRB, SART, NAVTEX

  • Distress call and communications

  • Urgency call

  • Safety call

  • Phonetic Alphabet

  • Practical training using training radios.

 Min 10 hours plus assessment

 

Examination

 

 Practical assessment and a short written test after the course

 RYA/MCA Short Range certificate to those that have successfully completed  the assessment
