 Navigation to Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster shorebased level

 

Practical experience

 

 Boat handling to Day Skipper standard.

 15 days sea time, 2 days as skipper

 There is no examination. The Instructor is assessing the competence and  monitors the progress of the students throughout the course giving guidance  and ensure that everyone is aware of their strengths and weaknesses

 Coastal Skipper non-tidal course completion certificate

 

Ability after the course

 

 Able to skipper a motor cruiser on coastal or offshore passages by day or  night. Has the knowledge required to go for a Yachtmaster Certificate of  Competence examination.

Day Skipper

This course is all about skippering a yacht in short passages by day.

The certificate you will get at the end is the minimum requirement to charter a boat in non-tidal waters.

Helmsman's

After this course you will be able to handle ropes, tie knots and you will know about emergency procedures and living aboard and helm a small motor cruiser.
