About the RYA

The Leading Global Authority for Certification in Yachting

The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) is widely regarded as the leading authority for boating certification worldwide. Its training system and certification sets the benchmark for safety, seamanship, and teaching quality, and is trusted by sailors, charter companies, and maritime employers across the globe.

Our Role as an RYA Training Centre

Recognition for Hobbyists and Professionals

  • For hobbyists: RYA certificates give you the confidence to skipper your own boat, whether on holiday or at home, and are recognised by charter companies around the world.
  • For professionals: Advanced RYA qualifications—such as Yachtmaster or Advanced Powerboat – are internationally respected and, with a commercial endorsement, open doors to careers at sea. Maritime authorities in many countries accept RYA certificates as proof of competence.

International Prestige & Standardisation

  • RYA training follows a standardised syllabus, ensuring consistency wherever you take your course—be it the UK, Greece, or any of the 2,300 recognised training centres in 58 countries.
  • This worldwide recognition makes the RYA the trusted choice for anyone who wants transferable, reliable certification.

Our Commitment to Equality and Safety

At Seven Seas School of Yachting, equality and safeguarding are the two pillars of our approach to teaching and working with students. We believe every participant, whether child, young person, or adult, deserves to feel safe, respected, and included.
